The Wanderlust is a rustic Rhone varietal blend from three Paso Robles vineyards. The Onx Grenache and Mourvedre comes from a south west facing river bench vineyard in west Templeton, characterized by warm dry days and cool night time temperatures. The fruit was harvested at approximately 26.5 degrees brix, cold macerated and was allowed to ferment using wild as well as specialized yeast isolated from the Rhone valley. Carriage Vineyard is located in the Hills of East Templeton known as the Alto Pomar region. The Vineyard is situated at approximately 1500 ft. elevation on west facing terraces. This vineyard has highly calcified and limestone rich soils. The Syrah comes from our estate vineyard and is a combination of our “Hell Block” and “Hillside”. The estate vineyard is located in the Templeton Gap region on the western edge of the Paso Robles AVA. This area is considerably cooler and characterized by warm days and cool nights and is also known for having some of the most drastic daytime to night time temperature swings; up to 50 degrees from peak to low. The fruit was harvested at 27.0 degrees brix, cold macerated and whole berry fermented for 20 days. The lots were aged in fine grain French oak barrels and puncheons for 18 months. The blend exhibits a rich meaty quality intense ripe fruit and floral bouquet. A juicy wine with flavors of black currant, strawberry, blackberry and rhubarb, followed by leather vanilla and toasted oak.
